Emergency Preparedness Workshop: Equipping Our Community for the Unexpected

In partnership with the City of Mercer Island, MICA recently organized an Emergency Preparedness Workshop at the Mercer Island Country Club. This workshop was designed to equip residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to emergencies and natural disasters.

The workshop covered a range of essential topics, including:

1. Disaster Response Planning: Guidance on creating personalized emergency plans for families and individuals.

2. Emergency Supply Kits: Recommendations on assembling kits with essential items for different types of emergencies.

3. Communication Strategies: Tips for staying connected with family and emergency services during a crisis.

4. Evacuation Procedures: Step-by-step instructions for safe and orderly evacuations.

Led by Amanda Keverkamp, the Emergency Manager at City of Mercer Island, and Pat Hackett, the lead volunteer, the workshop provided valuable information and practical tools to ensure that our community is well-prepared for any emergency situation. Attendees left with a better understanding of how to protect themselves and their loved ones, as well as a renewed sense of confidence in their ability to handle unexpected events.

This initiative, co-organized with the City of Mercer Island, is part of our ongoing efforts to build a resilient and supportive community, where everyone is empowered with the knowledge and resources to stay safe. We are grateful to all who participated and look forward to continuing to offer programs that enhance the well-being of our residents.
